SURFING

IN SANTA TERESA

Located on the Nicoya península, bounded by the Pacific Ocean, Santa Teresa is a top surf destination. Its beaches rank as a warm water paradise with constant waves all year round.

During the summer you can take lessons in Playa Hermosa, north of Puntarenas, and in Playa Carmen, an almost 8 km-long coastline right opposite the Tiko Tours offices. You can also choose other beaches nearby if you rent a vehicle or have one of your own.

LESSONS
You can take lessons every day all year round, depending on wave, tide and wind conditions.

Lessons are 1 hour 30 min. long and include a surfboard, a lycra surf suit for sun protection and an instructor who will provide as much -or as little- guidance as you need.

Beginners
Learning to surf and water safety are priorities in every class. Your instructor will lead you through pop-up techniques, help you adopt a proper surfing stance and build confidence with the board around the ocean. This warm-up begins on the beach so you can then practice in white water.

Intermediate
You will learn to boost your confidence in the water, improve your paddling and pick the right wave, following the guidelines of surf etiquette. The goal is to help you improve your technique and elevate your surf performance.
