CURÚ RESERVE
Curú is a protected coastal wildlife reserve, created in 1981. With tropical forest, mangroves and fields along the coast, it has 17 trails for hikers and nature lovers. The meeting point will be at the main entrance of the reserve(if you arrive on your own).
This tour is ideal for anyone who wants to connect with nature in beautiful surroundings. Curú Wildlife Refuge is about an hour drive from Santa Teresa. Upon arrival, your guide will wait for you and give an introductory talk about the reserve, including its history and importance, and the common wildlife found there. Then we’ll hike through the reserve for around 2 hours and half, where we’ll appreciate the exuberant forest with a great variety of ecosystems such as mangroves and majestic forest. A large number of animal species can be seen on this tour, such as white-tailed deer, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, coatis, raccoons, agoutis, and many species of butterflies, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. Your knowledgeable guide will discuss the environmental issues related to the refuge and identify the flora and fauna found there. This tour is suitable for anyone, adults and children, since the trails are flat and without many challenges.
